3 Perfect Playlists For Hosting At Home - Klipsch R-820F Speaker System

Hosting guests at home just so happens to be one of my favorite types of social interactions. I’ve always loved the ritual surrounding hosting; from preparing the living space, to whipping up a delicious tapas board, dinner and drinks! But, one of the most important parts of hosting is by far: the music. And since hubby and I are also both musicians, not only do the music choices matter, but also our home audio system quality. So, for this post, I’ve teamed up with the incredible folks over at Klipsch to take the guesswork out and bring you some perfect playlists for hosting at home for your next gathering!

Birthday Bash

Nothing says “let’s have a party” like a birthday! Rod and I always have a joint celebration for our birthdays (they’re 11 days apart) and we always want to listen to an array of music. Since we have slightly different tastes in music, we go for a playlist that mixes up genres and spans decades. I’m a big 80s/90s/00s Pop music fan, so my selections would look something like this: Bryan Adams, Christina Aguilera, TLC, Katy Perry, Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Tears For Fears, J-Lo, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Shania Twain! Rod’s contributions lean more on the Rock’n’Roll & Alternative side of things and include songs by: Nirvana, Phoenix, Bob Marley, Coldplay, Empire Of The Sun, Calvin Harris, M83 and The 1975.

The Klipsch R-820F Floor Standing Speakers are an absolutely incredible choice for all genres of music. We looked at a wide variety of options in the catalog and after much debate, settled on these beautiful, elegant, black/spun-copper speakers because they had everything we could ever wish for to make our music (and movie-watching!) come to life. These speakers have been crafted with the every day listener in mind and the crisp detail that comes through in the sound is amazing. That’s why they’re a perfect choice for every day home audio because everything sounds incredible on them. If you’ve got friends with kids coming along to join the celebrations, you can rest easy because Klipsch remembered to pack durable and sleek magnetic grilles to prevent poking and damage. The textured wood exterior is scratch resistant too. The dual 8″ Spun-Copper woofers (music-speak for what makes bass and beats come through) are state of the art technology, so you have no excuse not to party on your birthday!

Date Night

A romantic date night is another occasion where the perfect playlist will set the tone for an evening well spent! I love putting together songs that inspire intimacy, relaxation and good times without being super cliché. There are so many songs that feel romantic but aren’t necessarily about love! My selections include: Dua Lipa, Ben Howard, John Mayer, Sade, Foreigner, London Grammar, Diana Krall, James Taylor, Mya, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Michael Jackson, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and The Eagles! If you’ve been with your partner longer-term then throw in some of “your songs” that you share and that have been important in your time together. On a romantic evening, you probably don’t want blaring music. At low volume these speakers don’t lose their depth, crispness and range of sound. They are truly versatile.

Chill Girls Hangout

Let’s be honest… Girls night means license to bust out all the closet fan-favorite songs you never usually admit you love, haha! Plus, I always mix in songs that I know my girlfriends like so that we can all share in each others musical tastes. It’s one of the most perfect and fun playlists to put together when hosting at home! My list could go on forever but I’ll keep it to a good selection for you!… Drake, Britney Spears, Alexia, Maxi Priest, The Palms, California Love, Tupac, George Michael, Colbie Caillat, Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk, Pink, Beyonce, J-Lo, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Aqua, Ace Of Base and the list goes on! The compact and sleek Klipsch Powergate allows multi-device pairing so it can talk to other Klipsch speakers in other rooms. That means if you want to take the wine and tapas to the balcony or have an impromptu spa/mask evening then you can still vibe to your favorite classics!

WOW! These speakers are gorgeous! Ummm I think I’d add in some Christina Aguilera to the girls night, she has that song What A Girl Wants, it would fit. I love hosting small parties with games too! Awesome post, beautiful brand!

Very helpful list of song choices, I can never remember what I love when I need to put on music! Our toddler only seems to like children’s songs but I’m sure anything sounds really great on these speakers. Will have to look them up. Thanks for the info! Karen

I’m a long time fan. Klipschorns are special too, if you checked those out? They’re pricier (quite some higher actually) but they’ll last you forever. Just a huge, beautiful wall of sound so those are my go-tos. But honestly you can’t go wrong with Klipsch, they have the years and craftsmanship quality.

Love the speakers., out of my price range. Clarity is important. I need to hear the breath of singers and sentiment, like guitar pickups, I need to hear the string waggle and the tones of the timber. The spun copper is impressive. I like steel and mahogany in a resonator guitar. Brass and silver cones are too sharp for me.

My music choice spans many decades. Earthy, great tunes and lyrics. It’s all about the heart and sentiment. A lot of great songs help in one way or another. Help you grow, different viewpoint, great expression of situations. Art.

I’ve heard perfection in drums, kalimbra, guitar, flute and even violin added to voice and rainforest glade beside a talking crystal creek. It takes good speakers to get close. The magnets matter too as well as the room. I can’t live near neighbours, :).
You are in Pro class, Rod especially, I can appreciate what the quality of those speakers would be.
I have wide taste. My Father was a radio announcer and music fanatic. Lot of great voices and hearts waste time with poor rythum, tunes and lyrics. Some are consistent. Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, John Fogarty, Linda Ronstadt, to name only a couple of the older basics. So much rubbish around today and to someone who appreciates the older, I hear bits and pieces of it through ” modern”. So many poor tunes, rythum, sentiment and lyrics around. A plastic world. I.stick to Earthy. A. Lot of songs meant nothing when younger but can’t live without them after you’ve lived a bit.
Each to their own I guess.

All so true Jimmi! Certainly “modern” sounds have gravitated towards a mesh of sameness at times, although there are some really interesting artists coming through the monotony of digital now.. but nothing quite like plain ol’ melody, guitar riffs and hearing really talented musicians make music. Thanks for stopping by! Happy New Year!! xo

A little about me…

Hello there! I’m Ana Free, s’nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my lifestyle and mommy blog! I’m mama to a gorgeous baby girl called Zoe as well as a four-legged rescue pooch called Indie and wifey to an Argentinian music producer hunk by the name of Rodrigo (but since that’s too long I always call him Rod haha). I love music, writing and singing songs, traveling, doing my makeup, taking photographs and spending time with my family. The craziest thing I’ve ever done is skydive and the most embarrassing was probably when I peed in protest on the floor in ballet as a child because the teacher wouldn’t let me go to the bathroom (seriously, when a 6 year old says they need to go, you gotta let ’em)!

As with most creatives, it seems I have a million and one passions and this space is where I get to write, share, ramble and post whatever comes to mind in my world. It’s really just all things casual, travels, mama+baby, fashion, makeup, style and me.
