5 Reasons To Stay At The Westin Lake Las Vegas

The Westin Lake Las Vegas - Golf Club Family - thecasualfree.com

Who doesn’t live for a little weekend escape?! Especially when that escape is far enough from home to relax, but close enough you don’t need to worry about how many travel days you have to lose getting there and back. The Westin at Lake Las Vegas is the perfect and unexpected little getaway just about 30 minutes from the famous Strip. It’s in the middle of a giant desert, you say? I hear you. But there is everything you need and more to stay happy, cool, hydrated and relaxed at this stunning resort. Read on for my top 5 reasons to stay at The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa!

This post is a collaboration with The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa who graciously hosted us! All thoughts and opinions are my own (read more here on this!).

+ Breakfast

I’m just going to say one thing: I love to sleep in. The only time I forfeit ANY extra possible zzz’s is for a delicious hotel breakfast. Isn’t it the best to just waltz into the breakfast room and choose all that calls to your heart tummy and go and go until you burst!? Umm, yes. My favorite picks at The Westin Lake Las Vegas breakfast were the yummy orange juice (get that Vitamin C now Zoe’s in preschool #germs), the bacon (we never eat it at home), fresh fruit selection and the custom omelette bar. Plus I’d always go back and sneak a couple extra pastries for family snacks for the day too (don’t act like you never).

+ The g Aveda Spa

Luxury at the next level. I was so impressed at the spa menu offered at The Westin Lake Las Vegas. It has everything you’ll need – from massages, to facials, waxing, manicure and hair and makeup services. The spa facilities are welcoming and quiet (I so needed this)! I left Rod and Zoe together for a daddy/daughter morning and opted for the 80 minute Hot Stone Massage. My therapist, Kristen, was so attentive to detail and really listened to my body and feedback which made the treatment much more beneficial and enjoyable. Heavenly. That’s the only word I can find to describe how it feels to zone out from the beautiful but busy days of parenthood! I truly believe that tending to your physical relaxation is as important as mental meditation. If you can snag a morning at the g Aveda Spa, DO IT!

+ Great Dining Options

I get hungry fast. I’m a total snacker between meals too! I need energy all through my day chasing Zoe around. So thankfully there is no shortage of great places to find food at The Westin Lake Las Vegas. On our first night, we booked a table at sunset at Marssa Steak & Sushi. I recommend going in the early evening because you can enjoy the lake views at the golden hour. I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life and this restaurant is worth the visit just for it’s exquisite quality. The fish is brought in from Japan, aged for 2 days and then carefully prepared. Everything was delicious! We went pretty nuts with it and ordered Truffle Salmon Carpaccio, Miso Soup, Ahi Toro Poke, Dynamite Scallop, Baked Salmon sushi and Honey Walnut Shrimp. And the Sashimi Sampler Plate. And maybe a Mojito. Or two. I prayed hard that I could eat the entire menu in one sitting but I’m only human. I get points for trying though, right!? During the day, we opted for the rib-eye salad and kids quesadilla at Arabesque Lounge which overlooks the lake and terrace. You can also find sandwiches and salads from Rick’s Café and/or quick bites from Marrakesh Express Marketplace (they have a Starbucks too!). Or dine pool-side and get exotic cocktails at Sandsabar & Grill. Or room service (24 hours). You will never go hungry here!

Family Friendly Activities

There are so many things to do with the kids here! Relax together in the Upper pool (which has a hot tub too!) or take the kids on the water slide at the Lower pool! There’s also a smaller stand alone kids pool if everything is too crazy elsewhere. On the lake beach, we found a tons of options for water sports including kayaks, pedal boats and paddle boards available (see here for beach essentials for a toddler!). Up in the recreation area there’s mini-golf and a sports court to take advantage of! On Friday and Saturday nights there is a family movie night (which we couldn’t make it to) that takes place at the Upper pool. You can grab a floatie and watch with the kids, how fun is that!? Between the pools and breakfast area, there is a sweet little corner that offers ping pong tables, life sized chess board and some green areas to chill out in. I do love how welcoming this hotel is of kids. We saw a lot of families with kids taking advantage of all the well thought-out amenities. Plus there are lots of cute corners on the property to get away to if you want to have a quiet walk including the Andalusian Garden! And guess what just put that cherry on top for us? IT’S PET FRIENDLY!

+ The Views

When you think of Las Vegas, you think of that cliché. The strip, the shopping, the chaos, the lights, imitation, the shows and clubs. But, if you’re anything like our family and appreciate some quiet and downtime to unplug, the Las Vegas Lake is a hidden paradise meant just for you. The views and serenity in this gorgeous location are something so special. You wake up and look across the lake and desert in awe of how mother nature is so graceful. Whether it’s from the terraces that the hotel offers, the pool, the bars or the state of the art Reflection Bay Golf Course (which Rod was ecstatic to have been able to get out into nature and play), you will be able to unwind and relax at the Westin without compromising the fun of Las Vegas. We got our shopping in at the premium outlet on the strip on Sunday afternoon, had dinner and drove the short hop back to the calm lake.

Honestly, I still can’t believe I didn’t know about this before. Truly, we had such a wonderful time. Between the wonderful staff that greeted and made us comfortable, to the endless choices and options for fun or relaxation, we had a great time. I only wish we had stayed a little longer! This summer, The Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa currently has some AMAZING rates on rooms through the rest of summer so don’t miss out if you’re heading down Vegas way! A little about me…

Hello there! I’m Ana Free, s’nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by my lifestyle and mommy blog! I’m mama to a gorgeous baby girl called Zoe as well as a four-legged rescue pooch called Indie and wifey to an Argentinian music producer hunk by the name of Rodrigo (but since that’s too long I always call him Rod haha). I love music, writing and singing songs, traveling, doing my makeup, taking photographs and spending time with my family. The craziest thing I’ve ever done is skydive and the most embarrassing was probably when I peed in protest on the floor in ballet as a child because the teacher wouldn’t let me go to the bathroom (seriously, when a 6 year old says they need to go, you gotta let ’em)!

As with most creatives, it seems I have a million and one passions and this space is where I get to write, share, ramble and post whatever comes to mind in my world. It’s really just all things casual, travels, mama+baby, fashion, makeup, style and me.
