Smashbox have been grinding hard on their eye shadow game, guys. I got my hands on the whole Cover Shot x Shay collection this holiday and every single palette is a pigmented color-filled pressed powder adventure. Smashbox and Shay Mitchell partnered on this series and overall, I really love them. Read on for more and as always, you can shop the look below if you fancy!
*Thanks to Smashbox for sending me these products to try out. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I usually run to my Too Faced or Urban Decay palettes for most of my eye shadow needs but I have to say, Smashbox have excelled in this collection. They had previously sent me another Matte eye shadow palette in their series which I found underwhelming in terms of pigmentation and hold throughout the day. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this but I think it’s a real improvement on previous efforts. The collection has 7 wonderful (and very different) palettes, each with 8 shades.
Things to consider:
– There’s a pretty good mirror inside, you have to be quite close to your face in order for it not to be a little distorted.
– The collection doesn’t come with any brushes included for on the go (the powder Contour Kit for example, does comes with a mini brush which is so handy).
– Some of the shades in the palettes are already in other Smashbox staple palettes. The Matte Palette, for example, has almost all shades that I already own in another Smashbox palette.
My favorite palette picks:
Softlight
Golden Hour
Metallic
Ablaze
